Sam Fiorenza, English instructor: B.A., University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign; M.A., University of Illinois, Springfield.

Sam Fiorenza’s excitement for the art of writing is obvious in his classes, and he passes this enthusiasm on to his students. Students recognized him with the Bert Tavenner Memorial Award  in May 2003 and his peers honored him with the Highland Community College Faculty Excellence Award in January 2003. To stay up-to-date with current teaching trends, Sam attended several professional conferences over the years, notably the English Articulation Conference in April 2002 and the 25th Annual National Institute for Staff and Organization Development (NISOD) Conference in May 2003. In addition to teaching English courses, he also teaches British Literature I and II, and Into to Shakespeare courses. Sam is a member of the Illinois Association of Learning Assistance Professionals, the American Italian Historical Association (AIHA) and editorial assistant for the AIHA newsletter.
